Our Story: How The Jump Off Started in Covington
Short answer: The Jump Off started in June 2019 with two Spacewalk units Nick and Michelle Glassett bought in Kenner. First rental was Fourth of July weekend. The breakout day was Monday, March 23, 2020, when a week-long rental post went viral on the drive back from Folsom. Today we run Northshore bounce house and water slide rentals out of our Covington warehouse.

2019: Two units and a Fourth of July weekend
Michelle bought real Spacewalk units in Kenner after Walmart bounce houses wore out in about a year. She came home with an orange dinosaur bounce house and a blue slip-n-slide. Nick posted them on Facebook Marketplace for too little money. Over Fourth of July weekend they got their first rental.
In August, Nick quit his district manager job (about 16 years in retail) to build The Jump Off. Early days meant Uber in Michelle’s Armada, roadside resale, and Friday drop-offs with Sunday pickups around Michelle’s salon schedule at The Hair Lounge.
That fall they bought The Combo Cube, then a Red Stick Entertainment trailer deal in Prairieville that put more used units (and a trailer they later sold) into the fleet. By early winter they were scrubbing and repairing inventory for spring.
2020: March 23 and the week-long rental break
Mid-March bookings canceled when COVID hit. On a Folsom delivery, Michelle got ordered to shut her salon. Nick’s call on the spot: rent every unit. Drop prices, erase delivery fees, and switch to 7-day rentals for the price of one day.
Michelle posted on Facebook Marketplace while they set up. On the drive home the post went viral. By the time they reached Covington they were booked across Lacombe, Picayune, Covington, Mandeville, and Madisonville. The date was Monday, March 23, 2020. That is the day The Jump Off became Nick’s full-time work.
2021 to 2022: Warehouse, trucks, and a crew
By spring 2021 the shop had grown past a garage side hustle into a real operation: trucks, trailers, a 3,000 sq ft Covington warehouse, and a delivery crew. Summer 2021 was about four employees on four trucks and two trailers. Into 2022 inventory climbed toward about 30 inflatables and the crew scaled with it.
The culture stayed the same: clean units, on-time drops, and never miss a booked party. That record is still the bar we work to every Saturday.
